Carrie Romero
Executive Producer / “Clair Churchwell”
Carrie Romero, Co-Founder of AbstrACct, LLC, is a Sudden Cardiac Arrest Survivor and lifelong storyteller who’s lived with an ICD in her chest for almost three decades. A proud wife and mom, she brings her whole enlarged heart, along with her experience of second chances, to every project she touches. She’s a passionate advocate for having AEDs in public places and works to raise awareness and share real stories of survival and hope. Through her work in film, she hopes to inspire others to cherish life, look out for one another, and believe in the power of resilience.
Gus Romero
Executive Producer / “Dr Keith”
Gus Romero is the co-founder of AbstrACct, LLC Creative Development and is continually inspired by his wife Carrie Romero, a sudden cardiac arrest survivor and AED advocate, and their two sons Cason and Trevin. With over 30 years of business development and niche marketing experience, Gus focuses on bringing unique novel stories that can impact social outcomes and improve lives.
Lance Smith
Director, co-writer, executive producer
Lance Smith is a filmmaker, actor, and longtime television host best known to country music audiences in the 2000's as the face of CMT. After hosting more than 400 episodes of CMT Top 20 Countdown, along with numerous specials, red carpets, and artist interviews, Lance shifted deeper into writing, directing, and producing, with film credits including A Time for Every Purpose, and The Heart Brake. His work reflects a career-long focus on performance, story, and the study of human behavior.
He is a co-founder of MarcoBox Studios LLC.
Trey McClarnon
Producer
Trey McClarnon is a Nashville-based writer, producer, and filmmaker who co-founded Best Part Productions with his brother, Chad McClarnon. Since launching the company in 2010, Trey has helped develop and produce a range of independent film projects, including multiple shorts and the feature horror film The Other People. In addition to his creative work, Trey brings a strong legal background as a litigation attorney and remains active in supporting Nashville’s growing film community through his work with the Nashville Music, Film, and Entertainment Commission and the Arts & Business Council of Nashville.
Chuck Fusca
Co-writer, executive producer, "Wayne"
Chuck Fusca is an actor, writer, director, and producer, as well as the co-founder of MarcoBox Studios. Originally from Wilmington, Delaware, Chuck began his career in theater before expanding into film work both in front of and behind the camera. His screen credits include The Heart Brake, Julie, The Refugee, and Crocodylus: Mating Season, reflecting a versatile career built around performance, storytelling, and independent film production.
Chuck also has an extensive background in child pyschology.
The Mission
Beyond a movie. Inspired by actual events, The Heart Brake aims to bring awareness to cardiac arrest survival.
